Transforming the Robinsons’ Kitchen: An ADA Accessible Remodel by Hostetler Construction

Introduction

Hey there! We’re excited to share a recent kitchen remodel project we completed for the lovely Robinson family in Upland, California. Chuck and Sue Robinson came to us with a vision for a more accessible and user-friendly kitchen, and we were thrilled to help make their dream come true. In this blog post, we’ll give you an insider’s look at the challenges we faced and the incredible transformation we achieved for the Robinsons.

Before...

Client Background & Needs

We had the pleasure of working with Chuck and Sue Robinson, a charming couple living in Upland, California, who needed a kitchen remodel to better suit their needs. Their wishlist included an open floor plan for improved accessibility and an easier path to the garage for a walker. However, they had some concerns: they were on a fixed income, had electrical issues, space limitations, and a troublesome water shut-off valve.

Initial Consultation and Project Planning

We sat down with the Robinsons to discuss their vision and requirements for the remodel. After a thorough evaluation, we came up with a remodel plan that would address their concerns while staying within their budget. Our solution? A semi-custom cabinet, an upgraded electrical panel, removal of a dividing wall, shifting an opening for more wall space, and replacing the main shut-off valve. Let’s get to work!

The Remodeling Process

Our team rolled up their sleeves and got to work on the Robinsons’ kitchen remodel. First, we tackled the electrical issues by upgrading the panel and adding a sub-panel in the garage with extra kitchen circuits. Next, we knocked down the dividing wall and redesigned the kitchen layout to create an open floor plan and a clear path to the garage door for easier walker access.

To make the most of the limited space on the south wall, we shifted the opening to accommodate both a refrigerator and sufficient pantry space. Finally, we waved goodbye to that pesky faulty shut-off valve in the front yard and replaced it with a user-friendly ball valve. VoilĂ !

Client Satisfaction and Testimonial

Chuck and Sue Robinson couldn’t be happier with our work, and they had some fantastic things to say about our team’s dedication, communication, and commitment to the project timeline. Here’s what they shared:

“We recently had Hostetler Construction do a kitchen remodel on our home. We had gotten several bids, but Brian’s was the most detailed and straightforward by far… The team lived up to the goals for each day… They all made us feel like we were a part of the team. Communication was outstanding from start to finish… Hostetler Construction has been the only company that has remained true to their timeline and promises. We would recommend this company without hesitation. Five stars PLUS out of five stars!!!”
